Topic: MENTAL HEALTH MEDICATIONS (2 Hours)
Description: This course provides a solid working knowledge of psychiatric medications used to treat common disorders seen in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The knowledge gained from this course will be useful in educating clients on the need and proper use of medications as well as beneficial in increasing medication compliance. There are useful charts that can be utilized for quick reference by the clinician and a helpful list of questions to ask the doctor when new medications are described. Course Objectives: 1. Identify medications used to treat depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and schizophrenia. 2. Identify side effects of psychiatric medications. 3. Understand the proper use of each medication. 4. Identify clients with special needs on psychiatric medications.
